This adorable picture book takes the reader through the evolution and development of frogs, beginning in the days of the dinosaur. (A note from the author at the end explains that frogs and dinosaurs lived side by side, though, of course, only frogs exist today). With quite detailed illustrations, the book shows the development from a tadpole to a frog during the dinosaur era, through the eyes of some of the creatures who walked the earth at that time: 'Lumbering duckbills were taken aback to see an amphibian on the attack. Alamosauruses craned their necks to get a good look at Tadpole Rex. Bouncing about with the boldest of hops, Rex nearly tripped a triceratops.' ... 'Gone are the dinosaurs. Gone are the stompers, the rippers, the roarers, the bone-crunching chompers. Gone are the dinosaurs, swept away ... But hoppers and croakers are here to stay.' Tadpole Rex is entertaining and rhythmically appealing; this is a unique book that should appeal to dinosaur and frog lovers everywhere.
