E
veryone's favorite picture book dog, Carl, is back for another adventure. Carl's story, like most of the other Carl stories, is told predominantly in pictures and only minimal words.
I
n this story, Carl's family arrives at their summer home. Carl and the little girl of the house are supposed to be napping on the porch, but Carl gives her a life jacket, and they're off on their day or exploration. There's a boat ride, a romp through the woods, a playground, a baseball game, and an interlude at a picnic. Then, home again to watch the boat races with the family. Of course, Madeleine and Carl's adventure remains a secret from everyone else.
T
he paintings' dreamlike quality captures the lazy summer day feel. Fans of Carl will delight in this summertime romp.
