his is a very sweet and simple rhyming story for the youngest of children about five little ducks out for a dunk, followed by a picnic on the sand, and games of kite flying and leap frog. The ducklings then return home after a day of frolicking at the beach, exhausted and happy.

he text is basic and easy to read aloud.
'
One duck gurgles.
Two ducks whirl.
Three ducks burble.
Four ducks swirl.
Five little ducks dunk undersea.
Ducks paddle up now -
"Look at me!"
Soon ducks shiver.
Time for sun!
Ducks reach dry land, one by one.
Ducks on towels unpack lunch:
Clam cakes, jam cakes.
Five ducks munch.

he staccato-like text in this book is reminiscent of the language in Nancy Shaw's

. The book is rounded out by pleasing illustrations of the five charming main characters.
