T
his is a basic preschool-level rhyming book about how to turn a pout into a smile. In the deep sea, there is a pouty little fish. He is, of course, known as the
pout-pout fish
. Every sea animal tries to turn his mood around, but the fish only has this to say (over and over):
'
I'm a pout-pout fish
With a pout-pout face,
So I spread the dreary-wearies
All over the place.'

t's not until a shimmery fish plants a cold, wet one on the pout-pout fish's face that he realizes that he is not destined for depression after all. Suddenly, he is a
kiss-kiss
fish who now spreads
cheery-cheeries
all over the place.
K
ids will enjoy the pictures of the gloomy fish and his story that - when read with just the right tone - has the potential to be a fun read aloud.
The Pout-Pout Fish
has a nice message about the power of reaching out to make someone happy with a simple gesture.
