H
ere comes another celebrity picture book: comedian Jeff Foxworthy has written a book of poems geared toward the preschool and early elementary school age group.
T
his collection has no theme other than the silly things that children do or think about. Topics range from strange family members (including Aunt Foo Foo) to a lost hat, to the funny noises made by animals, to making friends.
T
he poems vary both in length and style, are funny and/or sweet, and they are immensely readable. Some samples:
'
My grandma puts on lipstick
It's bright red like a rose
Because she cannot see too well
It ends up on her nose!
'
'
Salamander sitting there
Salamander has no hair
His friend the bear has hair to spare
But bear won't share
And that’s not fair!
'
S
teve Bjorkman's illustrations really make the words come alive. They are whimsical and just the right fit for this book.
