This cute tale tells the story of a little girl so obsessed with the color pink that she turns pink after eating one too many pink cupcakes. Her parents are frantic, but Pinkalicious doesn't seem to mind. In fact, she says of discovering herself all pink, 'My hair was the color of raspberry sorbet. I cried because I was so beautiful. I even had PINK tears.' To cure her pinkatitis, she is ordered to eat nothing but green vegetables for the next week. Pinkalicious rails at this advice; she loves being called either Pinkarella or Pinkerbelle. Of course, all's well that ends well. After she scarfs down a variety of greens, she resumes her normal hue: 'I was no longer red. I was no longer pink. I was me, and I was beautiful.' The book is pure fun, while the whimsical illustrations help the story move along. And if you can't get enough of the adventures of Pinkalicious, look for the next book, entitled Purplicious. In a way, the book reminds me a little of Burger Boy, a story about a little boy who turned into a burger after eating nothing but, well, burgers, and ultimately turned into a carrot after eating nothing but vegetables. In the same vein as Pinkalicious, the book also deals with getting too much of a good thing and the need for variety.
