H
aving had four newborn kittens in our home at one point, I was delighted to see Eric Rohmann's charming picture book about four little felines '
who had never seen snow.
' Early illustrations show them getting into springtime mischief - as only active, curious kits can do.
T
hree little kittens are scared of the whole notion of white stuff that would make them '
Cold to the tips of our tails!
' But the fourth one has a more adventurous spirit and '
can't wait.
' As the seasons pass, three continue to lament the approaching cold spell, but that brave fourth keeps on proclaiming '
I can't wait.
'
T
hen the big day arrives and three kittens hide ... till the fourth shows them what fun is to be had playing in snow. Kids - who tend to be fearful of new experiences - will empathize with the scaredycats, admire the sibling made of sterner stuff, and perhaps be a little more open to new things themselves.
