It's autumn and Mom and Dad drive Tangerine (the girl) and Kiwi (the boy) to the country to pick crisp apples. The kids learn that twelve different kinds of apples grow on the trees at the Rosy Red Apple Orchard. An apple grower explains how she cares for the trees to ensure 'a huge crop of beautiful apples', and pulls the children in a wagon with her tractor through the orchard to a spot where they can gently pick different kinds of apples. Back home, they wash, peel and core apples, and make a delicious Apple Crisp (with a choice of chocolate chips or cinnamon in the topping). The recipe is at the back of this mouthwatering picture book, along with an informative page on caring for apple trees through the seasons.
