At recess she shares her book with her best friend Ivy and the rest of the second graders. Everybody wants to break a world record. All the good records – such as the most straws in your mouth, the most M&Ms eaten, and the most spoons on your face – are quickly taken. Bean is disappointed but she plans to come up with a record of her own to break. While she searches for something she can claim as her own world record, Bean comes up with ideas that get her into trouble with her dad and sister. When nothing else works, Ivy suggests they become the youngest paleontologists in the world. So they begin excavating Bean's backyard. This is the third in the Ivy + Bean series. Their light-hearted adventures often require quick thinking to keep them out of trouble. Barrows creates easy to believe situations and spirited characters. Blackall's black and white illustrations add just the right amount of visuals to enhance the reader's imagination.
