Ten different child-friendly recipes give young cooks a taste of everything from snacks to appetizers to desserts. Each recipe serves a crew of four.

. Children learn to follow the rules of the galley - whether it's getting an adult to help them when the recipe page shows a Jolly Roger flag or wiping up spills to keep the decks clear. Beginning cooks are offered illustrations by a small pirate, who shows techniques such as blending, grating, whisking, and skewering.
