It has to be a nightmare. From the moment Susan Mitchell finds herself alone, stranded on a strange and foreign world, she feels nothing but terror. She is separated from her loving husband and four children, separated from all that is familiar. Could she even be separated from God?

'In every time of great need, a Restorer is sent to fight for the people and help the guardians. The Restorer is empowered with gifts to defeat our enemies and turn the people's hearts back to the Verses.'

Susan is thrown into a role she doesn't feel prepared for, the role of Restorer, or deliverer, to a world that is in dire need of saving. 'I didn't feel 'sent.' I felt like an accident. Or a lunatic. Or the only sane person in a world full of lunatics.' She doesn't want to believe that she is the one they have been waiting for, but the signs – heightened senses and the ability to heal at an amazing speed - are undeniable.

I am deeply impressed with this new Christian fantasy series. Susan faces fears that we all have to deal with one time or another in our lives, especially when we feel God is drawing us down a path that isn't exactly comfortable. Watching her overcome her pain, confusion, doubts, and loneliness was uplifting to my spirit and reminded me that God doesn't send us out into battle unarmed. He gave us scripture to hide in our heart and gives us the strength to continue on. Issues such as trusting God no matter how alone you feel and not letting Satan's lies permeate your life and kill your faith are cleverly addressed without being preachy.

The Restorer is a must-read for anyone who feels discouraged with their life and spiritual purpose, but it's also an exciting fantasy adventure. This is a fantastic debut for the Sword of Lyric series, and I am eagerly awaiting the next book, The Restorer's Son, to be released later this year.
