Alligator Tales
series presents the popular poet's verses in a board book format suitable for the youngest readers.
T
his one features a poem about a city skyscraper - seen through the window of a small boy's room at different times of day, and night. It begins and ends, '
Skyscraper, skyscraper, / Scrape me some sky;
' We see a small girl join her brother and play with him as the cityscape changes outside.
I
especially like the small, whimsical touches in Nora Hilb's charming illustrations, like the red balloon floating upwards in the daytime and the flying saucer that appears once the boy is sleeping at the end.
