My favorite is the poem about Pluto, the planet that recently got demoted: 'Pluto was a planet. But now it doesn't pass. Pluto was a planet. They say it's lacking mass. Pluto was a planet. Pluto was admired. Pluto was a planet. Till one day it got fired.' The illustrations, which have a collage feel, are captivating and full of detail. For example, a statue of the goddess of Venus is depicted in the drawing of that planet. Each poem is just the right length and contains fun facts about our solar system. Comets, Stars, the Moon, and Mars is a nice introduction to astronomy for young children and would be a great book for classrooms as well as for a personal home library.
