he's back, and she's fancier than ever.
Fancy Nancy
was one of the most popular picture books of 2005, and now the title character is starring in another adventure.
T
his time, Nancy seeks a companion of the canine kind. She particularly wants a papillon, mostly because of his fancy name and his purebred status. Nancy's neighbor owns a papillon, so she borrows the dog to see if he will be the right pet for her. Unfortunately, he doesn't meet her or her family's expectations. Ultimately, they find the perfect pet at the animal shelter, one who satisfies everyone's criteria. Her name happens to be Frenchy, and that suits Nancy just fine.
W
hile Nancy is fancy, she is not a snob. She merely knows how to enjoy life and to beautify her surroundings.
A
s with the first book, the illustrations seem to perfectly capture Nancy's penchant for all things fancy. From her bedroom walls to her clothing to her hair, Nancy is flamboyant to the core. The drawings are nothing short of resplendent (that's a fancy word for colorful).
Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy
is a gem and will be sure to please fans of the previous book.
