ach two-page spread inside shows what she did - to her little brother, to Joey Whipple, or relating to beavers - followed by the consequence, seventeen somethings she's
not allowed to do any more
. Small readers - who occasionally get into mischief themselves - will empathize with this young rebel, who keeps getting into creative trouble - with the crossing guard, her teacher, and her worn-out mother.
O
f course, all's well that ends with an apology - or is it? But it's a cute ending nevertheless, and Nancy Carpenter's expressive illustrations perfectly capture the sequence of moods that flit across this strong-willed little girl's face.
