his is another classic available in a wide variety of formats, from board books and Little Golden Books versions to pop-up, easy reading, and even a modern re-telling entitled
The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza
. Though it is now hard to find, I especially enjoyed the illustrations in the Oxford University Press reprint which my children and I read together often when they were small.
I
was reminded of this tale when I referred to it yesterday and realized how often it comes up in nudging teenagers to do their share. But though parents love the message, kids also enjoy the story of the persistent little hen who, failing to find helpers, simply gets on with the job, gets it done, and enjoys the result ... '
