Great Day for UP
, the inimitable verse of Dr. Seuss is illustrated with the whimsical drawings of Quentin Blake, resulting in an enchanting combination. It's all about creatures getting
UP
('
Up, whales! Up snails!
') and all the many places to go
UP
('
Great day for UP on ferris wheels!
'). It builds steadily to a climax when '
EVERYONE on Earth is up!
', which is then deflated by a cute conclusion.
T
his is one of those classics which kids will demand night after night, and which parents will enjoy reading to them; I certainly did so countless times when my children were small.
Great Day for UP
teaches little ones all the different ways in which the word '
UP
' can be used, it's great fun, it rhymes, and it's
up
lifting. What more can a parent ask?
