T
his very simple but sweet picture book is sure to appeal to little ones at bedtime.
I
n a sleepy sleepy house everything is sleepy sleepy. The whole house is asleep, including the chairs, the bed, the pictures on the walls, the moon outside, and even the house itself. Suddenly, music drifts through the window, gradually waking everyone up. The chairs, now wide-eyed, are rocking, the cat is awake, and even the dishes begin to do a middle-of-the-night tango. Once the music fades away, all is quiet, and sleep once again overtakes the house.
T
he most appealing aspect of this book are the illustrations, which personify all the objects in the house with muted bluish tones, creating a dreamlike atmosphere just right for a nighttime-themed story.
