T
his is my favorite Todd Parr book so far - an up-beat, exuberant, celebration of diversity in families around the world in the author's trademark primal colors. It makes me smile just to look at the cover.
W
e see that families are big and small; same or different colors; live close together or far apart; look alike or like their pets (that made me chuckle); have step-relatives and adopt kids; have extra parents or just one; eat alike or enjoy different foods; are quiet or noisy; are clean or messy; have their own house or share one. But they all like to hug and to celebrate together; all are sad to lose someone they love; and '
All families can help each other be STRONG!
' (love the linked elephant illustration that goes with this one).
T
he Family Book
is happy and humorous, telling us that no matter which way our family chooses to be, it is special, quirks and all. Find your own family inside its covers and celebrate its uniqueness and its
sameness
together.
