F
ive Minutes' Peace
is one of a delightful series about the Large family - Mr. and Mrs. Large, Lester, Laura and the little Large. These books work because parents (especially mothers) and kids can relate to them at different levels. This time, poor Mrs. Large just wants '
five minutes' peace
' from the hectic morning mess - to have her own breakfast, enjoy a quick bubble bath, and read the paper. But it's not to be.
F
irst Lester asks her to listen to him practice his flute. Then Laura wants to read to her, the baby insists on sharing his bath toys, and on it goes. Of course, they all end up in the bath together, with poor Mrs. Large still hoping for '
five minutes' peace
'. As any frazzled mom could predict, she never does get it, but she appreciates her quiet forty-five seconds anyway.
