T
he creators of
Play with Your Food
have outdone themselves in this wonderful new book of food - mostly fruits and vegetables - carved into human or animal shapes.
T
he authors' collective imaginations are apparently endless and their creativity at an all time high. Leaf through the book, and you will find penguins carved from eggplants; a poodle and his bone constructed entirely out of cauliflower; and a monkey made out of kiwi. One amazing photo shows a family of scallions waiting for the train, which is carved out of a cucumber and riding on celery tracks.
A
nd who knew bananas were so versatile? They can be shaped into a dolphin, a giraffe, a sleeping dog, an octopus, an airplane, even bowling pins. Mushrooms, too, can be made into houses, chairs, fireplaces, and television sets. The piece de resistance, at least for me, was the Parthenon constructed out of watermelon and celery.
B
right colored backgrounds accompany the photography in this several hundred-page volume. The unbelievably realistic expressions on these creations are sure to delight children and adults alike.
