An Ornaments' Tale
, Chet Spiewak tells the story of holiday ornaments waiting in the attic for their seasonal outing. When Percy, a wooden soldier, spies '
a fresh green pine tree
' through a hole in the floor, he rushes to tell the others.
A
fter the elf ornaments spruce everyone up, they settle into their box, waiting to be taken downstairs. But instead, they're moved to a corner of the attic - what can have gone wrong? They know what happened once they hear '
Trick or treat!
' But by then it's too late as the other ornaments have already been carried down and are being hung on the tree.
I
t takes a lesson in friendship for the Christmas ornaments to get the help they need to join the holiday celebrations. Though the storytelling could be improved, the illustrations are engaging and well executed in this out of the ordinary picture book.
