Keeker and her pony Plum live in Vermont where after the snow melts, the rains come and it's mud season, a very boring time for the duo. Plum can't find grass to eat because of the mud and Keeker can't ride Plum because of the mud.

When the sun finally comes out, Keeker washes the mud off her pony and they set off on adventure number three of the Sneaky Pony series. They have a new neighbor who has just moved into Crab Apple Farm. Keeker rides Plum over to the run down farm to spy on the new owner. Keeker is sure she's a witch. Who else would live there? When she discovers that the old lady is stirring up a potion, Keeker is afraid that she is right.

Keeker is nine in this story and Plum is eight, but just as sneaky as ever. Maja Andersen's excellent drawings complement the text, bringing out some of the funnier scenes. Readers who love ponies will definitely want to delve into this series.
