G
oldilocks and the Three Bears
is one in a a series of storybooks accompanied by a set of finger puppets, so that readers can act out the happenings of beloved traditional tales.
A
felt glove provides the story backdrop on one hand, while the individual puppets (the three bears and Goldilocks herself) act out scenes on the fingers of the other hand, and can stick to the glove with velcro (there's also a velcro button to attach the glove and its puppets to the book). And the last two pages provide a felt play board (an outdoors scene leading up to the bears' house) on which to enact the comings and goings of the story.
T
he illustrations are bright and cheerful, with charming touches like Little Bear's A+ report card on the fridge door, and the cat on a mat in the bedroom. I love the way kids can participate actively in the story with the puppets, though this backdrop (an outdoors scene) is limited. The story ends sweetly with Goldilocks running home, where '
her mother hugged her, and everything was just right.
