T
his is an informative pictorial guide to the Internet, aimed at children aged 4 to 8. It explains what is needed to get on to the net, how things move around it, and rules that keep you safe. Other topics include email, chat rooms, surfing, the world wide web, and visiting web sites (a list at the end gives fun web sites to get started).
T
he explanations are clear and simple, and the images aid in getting the ideas across. I especially liked one with 2 computers hovering above different continents, linked via phone lines and telephone poles. Another that was effective was a picture of kids surfing an information ocean on their displays and keyboards.
I
recommend
My First Book About the Internet
to any kid from six to sixty who is just getting started on the information highway. Read it to a child - you just might learn a little yourself.
