P
ablo the elephant is an artist who is having a creativity lapse. There is an upcoming art show, but for the life of him, he cannot figure out what to paint. His friends suggest he go outside for a change of scenery. Hoping for inspiration, he agrees.
H
e falls asleep while outside, during which time he dreams that several other animals come by and add their own touches to his canvas. When Pablo awakens, he is filled with ideas, and fulfills his goal by painting his best work yet.
T
his is a cute story about confidence, patience, and the artistic process. Kitamura hit upon a similar theme in
Igor, the Bird Who Couldn't Sing
. Kitamura's trademark lush, cartoon-like illustrations complement the simple text.
