LeSieg (aka Dr. Seuss) and colorful scenes by Scott Nash, Hooper Humperdink...? Not Him! tells the story of a young boy, who is planning to have a big and fantabulous party. He plans to invite everyone except Hooper, and the boy admits that for some reason, 'I don't like Humperdink'. The list of invited friends goes from 'A' for Alice through 'Z' for Zipper, teaching a child the wonders of the alphabet. There will be a band for music - 'The K. K. Kats', hot dogs, lots of ice cream - about 'Ten Tons'. His friends will arrive by way of all sorts of transportation, including camelback, parachute, and train. I recommend the book for its presentation, lessons in friendship and learning to read, and for its joyful ending!
