L
ee, Lloyd, Billy and Angela are not thrilled by the '
first morning back at school
' ... that is, until they find an alien lurking behind a bush. You see, Martin's green all over, he has antennae instead of hair, and he's unusual in other ways too.
T
he story unfolds in an engaging and inclusive manner, as we're told how each of the four children looks and acts, just before one of Martin's attributes is revealed - color, head covering, play, movement, knowledge, and artistic expression. Finally, the four children head home - by car, bike, bus, and on foot. Can you guess how Martin returns to his world?
I
t's a cute picture book to read aloud. It would be easy to use
But Martin!
to promote interaction with a child or group of kids, asking questions like '
What do you think Martin will paint?
' Kids' answers are likely to be as entertaining as the story, which is illustrated in a bright, zany, childlike style.
