emi's intricate, glowing artwork accompanies the story of
Jesus
, told in depth with frequent Biblical (from the King James version) quotations. She begins '
In the Beginning
', and continues with the
Annunciation
,
Nativity
, and
Flight into Egypt
. We see a twelve-year-old Jesus astonishing his elders in the Temple (where colorful robes contrast with the pure marble surroundings).

here's the
Baptism
, and
Changing Water into Wine
at a wedding. Demi does a wonderful depiction of the
Temptation
(Satan's wings are superbly drawn), and imbues the cleansing of the
Temple
with lots of energy. Jesus gathers
Disciples
and gives the
Sermon on the Mount
('
Blessed are the meek
'). We see him multiply
Loaves and Fishes
, and perform the other miracles described in scriptures. He commands followers to '
love one another
' and to '
be the children of light.
' And Demi portrays the final days, followed by the
Resurrection
and
Ascension
.
T
his luminous volume is a treasure for those interested in exploring the Christian faith with children. Demi has created wonderful picture book biographies of many great spiritual figures, including
Buddha
,
The Dalai Lama
,
Gandhi
, and
Muhammad
.
