W
hat would kids ask the Biblical Methuselah if he showed up today? Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner give their sly, witty take on the question as they tell us what happens when
The 2000 Year Old Man Goes to School
and speaks to elementary students. The picture book, enhanced by James Bennett's funny and colorful illustrations, is accompanied by an audio rendition in
The 2000 Year Old Man Tells All
CD.
A
child asks the man what was used for transportation in his era. The answer? '
Mostly
fear.
' In fact,
fear
is his answer to many questions, including how singing, dancing, and the handshake all started. He explains how language began through
onomatopoeia
, and speaks of his time at Vesuvius University as '
the biggest mistake of my life
'. He drops names like Robin Hood, King Arthur, William Shakespeare, Einstein ... and Murray, who serendipitously invented fire.
K
ids will chuckle over this jumbled mix of strange history, weird legend, and zany advice - but listen to the CD too, as the humor works best when spoken.
