aymie, Dickie, and the Bean
shows us a day (mostly spent at an amusement park) in the life of three siblings, as the ten-year-old middle brother tells us '
Why I Love and Hate My Brothers
'. The book is accompanied by a CD in which author/comedian Ray Romano narrates the account. Gary Locke's illustrations do a good job of portraying kid reactions.
T
hough this picture book does not especially stand out from the crowd, it does a nice job of reflecting the love/hate relationships, the shifting alliances, the arguments and insults, and the occasional demonstrations of caring that those of us who have more than one sibling remember from our childhoods ... not to mention the need to get the last word.
