Kaszuba Locke Elizabeth Levy returns readers to 'a galaxy far, far away' to complete the original Star Wars trilogy, adapted from the movie Return of the Jedi. The Rebel Alliance plans 'one giant attack' against the Galactic Empire. Unknown to the Alliance, the Emperor is building a powerful Death Star 2. In the meantime, Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio have been sent to Tatooine to deliver a hologram message from Luke Skywalker to Jabba the Hutt. A bounty hunter (Princess Leia in disguise) brings Chewbacca the Wookie to sell to Jabba for 'fifty thousand'. Jedi Knight Skywalker secretly gains entrance to the Hutt's palace. It is all part of a master plan to rescue the carbonized Captain Han Solo. Luke keeps his promise and revisits Master Yoda to finish his Jedi training. Yoda tells him 'No more training do you need.' 'Then I am a Jedi?' asks Luke. The Master shakes his head saying 'Not yet, Vader you must face. Only then a Jedi will you be.' In another part of the galaxy, inside the new Death Star, the Emperor and Darth Vader await the arrival of Luke, again hoping to lure him to the 'dark side'. The Rebel troops, Han, Leia, Chewie, and Luke (who has learned that Vader is his father) arrive on Endor and meet the friendly Ewoks, who help them to strike the bunker of the Imperial stormtroopers. Jedi Skywalker is forced to fight Vader, lightsaber to lightsaber, while the evil Emperor watches. With the backdrop of original color photographs from the movie, Levy does a commendable job of representing the adventure of the Rebels against the Imperials. There is not much on the romance between Han and Leia, and less fighting action than there could be. However, I highly recommend Levy's adaption of Return of the Jedi for young readers, which allows them to grasp the essence of the wonderful world of Star Wars.
