T
he evil sisters of the elite Gamma Eta Pi continue their sinister and deadly machinations in book two of the series,
The Sorority: Merilynn
. Merilynn is more determined than ever to uncover the truth about Malory Thomas and her sisters, and the seemingly sinister goings-on within the exclusive Gamma Eta Pi sorority. Merilynn has always had a sixth sense when it comes to people and the '
bad things
' they might perpetrate, and there's just something about Malory and her fellow '
co-eds
' that's all wrong. Merilynn is determined to uncover whatever secrets they're hiding, if only to understand what really happened to her best friend Eve, whose disappearance remains unsolved. With the help of Eve's other loyal friend, Kendra, and two ghosts who visit Merilynn in her dreams, she sets out to uncover age-old and unnatural secrets lurking behind the creepy walls of the sorority house.
A
s with the first book in this series, Tamara Thorne does a nice job of resurrecting the feel and pacing of those serialized novels that used to be all the rage a few decades ago. It's pretty obvious she has a lot of fun with her arch villainess Malory and her biddable henchwomen as they lure others under their thrall, not only with promises of heady sex but also of mystical power. Of course, Merilynn and Kendra are the '
straight
' players here, as they continue investigating snobby Malory's connection to Eve's disappearance. Thorne again maintains a spooky tone throughout, especially with the addition of more otherworldly occurences, including a pair of ghosts who visit Merrilyn in her dreams, planting clues and hints for her to follow.
The Sorority: Merilynn
is a quick and fun read -- just the right kind of story as Halloween approaches!
