his enticing kit includes a small, 62-page, spiral-bound instruction book, as well as 60 sheets of origami paper in festive colors - red and green, yellow, rich blue and reindeer brown. Origami challenges range from a '
Candy Stick
' at the beginning that's easy enough for small fingers to roll, to a '
Santa Claus
' (complete with sack of gifts) at the end that's hard for adults to make.
I
n addition to the origami paper that comes in the kit, scissors are needed in some of the designs, and also glue (to hold the rolled up candy cane and paste the '
Paper Chain
' pieces together). Other easier pieces include a '
Snowman
', a '
Christmas Stocking
', a
Bell
', a '
Christmas Tree
', a '
Heart
' and a '
Church
'. Intermediate include an '
Angel
', '
Holly
' leaf and berries, and a '
Star
'. The '
Reindeer
' and '
Santa Claus
' are challenging, but the results are worth the effort (there's even a '
Sled
' for Santa and his Reindeer).

ids will enjoy making
Origami Christmas
pieces, but unless they're already experienced folders, will need guidance (helpers might want to practice themselves first). This craft can make a wonderful activity to while away some of the waiting time involved in the holidays - and friends and relatives will be impressed by the decorative results.
