avid Catrow's zany illustrations and Stu Smith's silly verses combine to create hilarity in
My School's a Zoo!
After a boy visits the zoo, it seems that animals take over his life.
F
irst he watches his parents '
snort and drool
' as his sister eats his homework. Then he notices that the school bus driver's a banana eating monkey, his teacher's a bear, and his seat's occupied by a hedgehog. The computer lab has been taken over, naturally, by mice and bugs. The librarian's an owl, and all the books have worms. The hippo on the swing outside looks rather precarious, and the principal's gnawing a bone.
A
ll this from a visit to the zoo! At home we see him worrying, '
I sure hope that our next trip / to the dinosaur display / won't have the same effect / as the zoo trip did today.
' There are chuckles on every page of
My School's a Zoo!
Enjoy it but whatever you do, don't visit the zoo (or a dino museum) just before school starts.
