M
arvin Monster has a big date to walk to school with Reba Banshee, the new monster in town. But that means he's going to go back on his word to walk with Gretchen Goblin and the Werewolf twins. When Marvin arrives at the meeting place, Bobby Zombie is there, and Reba walks to school with him instead. The day gets even worse from that point on. Will anything help to make the situation better? And what will happen after Marvin gets a dreaded '
toad-wart
' for not keeping his promise?
M
arvin Monster's Big Date
is an original, well constructed chapter book about making friends and relating to others. My own young children were fascinated by all of the
yucky
monster items such as '
roasted beetles
' and '
snailwiches
'. The detailed illustrations will keep readers and listeners actively involved with the story. The unique way of telling the tale subtly teaches concepts about friendship, and I look forward to additional books featuring Marvin!
