I
n a tale that teaches us that even bird-brains can dream, the little pigeon wants to drive the bus. And he wants it in the same focused and passionate way that all strong-willed children want something at some time or other.
H
e marshals all the arguments ('
I'll just steer
') and acts out the role. He pleads and cajoles ('
I have dreams, you know!
') and finally loses his temper. When the bus driver returns and the bus leaves, it's a setback. The little pigeon is sad ... but he soon recovers and sets his sights on something new and even more challenging.
T
his small pigeon embodies the big dreams we all have as kids and adults. He amuses us by enacting a little one's wants and frustrations, but he also reminds us of the importance of dreaming, and he doesn't give up on his own.
