Ever wondered where words really came from? According to this unique perspective, it all began in 'a small empty yellow room.' In bursts 'a fat pink-and-green thorny leg'. That's right, it's the Alphazed on the cover.

After 'Angry A', an entire alphabet of Alphazeds crowd into this little room. They're colorful, blazing with personality, and very opinionated. 'Dynamic D' is confident and extroverted, 'Sibilant S' is smooth, and 'Kicking K' is badly needed to make some space. It's quite a crush. Then darkness falls and magic happens, as the letters discover that they 'could be a part of something bigger, something that mattered'.

The Alphazeds are cute and fun, as they teach us a lesson about working together. There's even more fascinating background on the cast of letters and their 'typographic families' at the back of the book. And, for a child struggling with learning their letters, this picture book certainly makes them memorable.
