Moore's The Night Before Christmas in a polar bear family, with endearing watercolor illustrations by Ilya Tolochka. Even Santa is a bear here. In her Intro, Lucy Bozzi speaks of the classic holiday story's 'timeless values of Love, kindness, and togetherness.' She also includes a brief bio of New York professor Clement C. Moore. The poem is the one we all know well but the context is new and engaging. I especially liked the sleeping mice and the hockey sticks and skis that Santa adds to the stockings. Adding intriguing background information, Bozzi includes the 1823 original publication of the poem; a Glossary; an explanation of metaphors, similes, and contractions used; and what the reindeer names all mean.
