. Cleric Chih travels the empire of Ahn collecting stories. He narrates their adventures. He usually travels with rufous-striped talking bird Almost Brilliant.

his time, Chih accompanies adorable young bride Pham Nhung and her parents to her wedding at the grim estate of the much older Lord Guo. They are welcomed lavishly, but something is not right, and it's not just Guo's mad son and the frightened servants. Chih and Nhung explore empty rooms and courtyards together. He feels protective of her and indulges her whims.

hey wonder what happened to Guo's previous wives, but when they find out, it's not at all what they expected. Fortunately, they're saved from the resulting mayhem by a teapot and Almost Brilliant, and are able to make a good bargain to save survivors.
