Banana    by Zoey Abbott Order:  USA  Can Tundra, 2023 (2023) Hardcover     Reviewed by Hilary Williamson Zoey Abbott's picture book, Banana (aimed at ages 3-7), is all about a girl's great relationship with her dad, and what she does to get it back when he's distracted ... by a banana. The girl and her father have great fun together - swimming and diving, and playing shark games in the pool. When dad buys a banana, they even explore it together - and take it everywhere. But when dad's fascination turns into an obsession, he 'doesn't have time for riding bikes or picnics or bedtime stories anymore.' What can she do about it? Well, it's quick and effective - and it gets the message across. Though the premise is a bit silly, young readers don't mind silly and most will enjoy the role reversal at the end.
