I'll Go and Come Back    by Rajani LaRocca & Sara Palacios Order:  USA  Can Candlewick, 2022 (2022) Hardcover      Reviewed by Hilary Williamson Rajani LaRocca's I'll Go and Come Back (richly illustrated by Sara Palacios and aimed at ages three to seven) is about the bond between a girl (Jyoti) in America and the grandmother (Sita Pati) she visits in India. They spend days 'playing and reading and cooking', making Jyoti less lonely for her own home. When it is time to go home again, she promises Sita Pati, 'I'll go and come back.' Then, when her grandmother visits them in America, it's Jyoti who helps Sita Pati feel less lonely. I loved this picture book's depiction of the strong bond that so often forms between grandparent and grandchild, and the strong memories forged of times spent together.
