Stink and the Hairy, Scary Spider is the twelfth (following Hamlet and Cheese) in the popular Stink Moody chapter book series aimed at young readers aged six to nine.

Stink has gone 'cuckoo-crazy for origami' as this episode opens. He makes a dollar bill jumping frog and plays with it outside, where he encounters a 'mutant spider that had escaped from a top-secret super-scientific radioactive lab.' He runs!

Terrified of spiders, Stink seeks help. His friend Webster knows a lot about spiders. He tries to cure Stink's arachnophobia with stories and punny jokes, but then, Stink has spider-mares!

With help from his friends, Stink moves from making an origami spider to seeking the one that scared him in the first place. Finding it leads to a new friendship. This cute story about overcoming fear is interspersed with informatory arachnid toons.
