A cat does show up in the first story, though, just as a snake does in the second, and a hippo in the third. In every story, Max corrects or resists the book's directions, and young readers will enjoy all the antics. You do have to feel sorry for poor Max though as the book has its ways with him - until he's finally had enough and takes a stand. Great fun for young and old alike!
