A Piglet Called Truffle is the first in the Jasmine Green Rescues chapter book series, aimed at children aged seven to nine. Jasmine's dad is a farmer (Oak Tree Farm) and her mom a veterinarian, so her love of animals is not surprising.

When mom is called out to a calving, Jas accompanies her and checks out the farmer's newborn piglets. Though most of the piglets are feeding busily, Jas finds a tiny one that's too weak to feed. Since the farmer will do nothing for her, Jas takes her home with her and calls her Truffle.

She keeps her pignapped Truffle warm and feeds her. Truffle grows close to the family's aging dog Bramble. Jas trains her to follow commands. She loves her piglet but worries that her parents have decreed that Truffle can't stay on the farm once grown.

Then disaster strikes, but Truffle rises to the occasion, proving her value to the entire family and resulting in a very happy Christmas for Jasmine. Jasmine Green Rescues is the perfect series for young animal lovers,
