Although this is a board book, Baby Astronaut doesn't appear to have been written for toddlers, although they will enjoy the illustrations. The concepts are geared to older children. A bird asks a question to get little ones thinking beyond their place in the world. 'Who flies way up high above the clouds and into space?'

With illustrations and scientific facts, Gehl takes the reader along for a ride on a space shuttle. There is room for lots of for discussion as the shuttle explores stars, comets, planets, gravity and experiments being done in space. I like that Baby Astronaut is girl.
