Red Sky at Night    by Elly Mackay Order:  USA  Can Tundra, 2018 (2018) Hardcover     Reviewed by Hilary Williamson Elly Mackay's Red Sky at Night is a delightful picture book featuring 'weather folklore', from the titular saying to less known ones like 'When ladybugs swarm, expect a day that's warm.' There were many new to me, my favorite being 'Whether it's cold or whether it's hot. we shall have weather, whether or not.' The illustrations are scenic and often stormy and don't miss the page of Weather Wisdom at the back of the book. It ends 'Now that you know a saying or two, can you predict what the weather will do?' Read this Red Sky at Night with little ones and you'll be hearing rhymed predictions for weeks to come!
