Under-The-Bed Fred
(illustrated by Colin Jack) is the perfect chapter book for children afraid of the dark. Little ones like Leo, who's convinced there's a monster under his bed.
H
e feels trapped in his bed, afraid to go to the bathroom during the night as '
the monster was waiting.
' But one night he's had enough, so he starts to negotiate with the monster under his bed.
F
red (the monster) is not very frightening - in fact it's Fred who's terrified when Leo says as part of his good night, '
Don't let the bedbugs bite.
' However, frightening whoever's in the bed is Fred's job.
F
red does his job well when Sam the Man bullies his new friend, and he accompanies Leo to school show and tell - you can guess how that goes.
Under-The-Bed Fred
is both funny and fun.
