ABC Pop-Up    by Courtney Watson McCarthy Order:  USA  Can Candlewick, 2017 (2017) Hardcover      Reviewed by Hilary Williamson Courtney Watson McCarthy's ABC Pop-Up turns the alphabet into a journey of discovery, with subtle 3D pop-ups hinting at the letters (some of which are not immediately obvious). Open to see a red apple unfold, an 'A' on its green stem. Next comes a book; a cat chasing a dog; an elephant; flowers; a hand holding an ice cream; a juice box; and so on. Parent and child will work them out together - I saw tree right away but roots took longer, and violet took a minute too. The X-ray is definitely my favorite. ABC Pop-Up is a book to treasure, but be careful with it as rough handling could easily damage it.
