The impetus to travel comes when Annie learns that her sister Elsie is sick and needs cheering up. So they pack and drive east. Annie promises Carson a surprise on their arrival - what can it be? They drive through the Rockies, camping en route; pass through dinosaur country and the Prairies; swim in Lake Winnipeg; spend days surrounded by rocks and trees; gaze at Niagara Falls; try tourtiere in Quebec City; and finally reach the Atlantic. When they reach Elsie's home, the sisters have a sweet time together and Carson loves his surprise. This charming story also conveys the immensity of Canada and the beautiful variety of its landscapes - the perfect 150th read!
